Our HIAB training course is designed for those who wish to use lorry mounted loader cranes.
HIAB lorries can be hazardous and complex pieces of equipment, requiring technical knowledge and competent skill, as well as statutory qualifications.
Both employer and employee have obligations to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, as well as PUWER 98 & LOLER 98 regulations etc.
Professional instruction and a qualification will meet the requirements as laid down, and must be awarded by a governing body. Operator training must be arranged through a professional training centre, such as Trailer Training UK Ltd.
Duration: 2 Days
For operators who have never previously operated a lorry mounted crane.
Duration: 1 Day
For operators who have experience of a lorry mounted crane, but have no certification or their certificate is over 5 years old.
Renewal / Refresher
Duration: 1 Day
For experienced operators only, who’s certificate has expired and is between 3 & 5 years old.
Please note: There may be up to 3 candidates per 1 instructor. Additional
costs may apply for multiple operator registrations, as well as mileage charges for on-site training.
HIAB training is available at all of our sites using our equipment or on your site using your facilities and equipment. Courses are available six days a week (Monday to Saturday) at our Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire Training Centres.
Candidates will develop the theoretical and practical knowledge to safely operate a lorry mounted crane. Qualifying them in lorry loader operations, they can then obtain their HIAB licence.
Candidates will be registered onto the register of operators and issued with a photo ID card & certificate.
Our HIAB courses are available six days a week (Monday to Saturday).
HIAB training is available at our Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire driver training centres. Training can take place at our centres using our equipment or on your site using your facilities & equipment.
If you’d like the HIAB training course to take place at your site, you’ll need to provide a training room suitable for the number of candidates. Sufficient practical training space outside and a lorry mounted crane vehicle must be available to carry out assessments in. Candidates will also require PPE as per the company’s internal risk assessments.
Vehicle and crane platforms must be maintained and inspected, along with necessary loading ancillaries (slings, hooks, pallets etc).
