LGV C1 Ambulance Driver Training Course

The LGV C1 licence is for drivers of vehicles of up to 7.5 tonnes, such as ambulances. It is a necessary qualification for paramedics.

Having an LGV C1 licence is necessary for drivers who passed their car test after 1st January 1997. The LGV C1 entitlement enables drivers to drive vehicles with an MAM (maximum authorised mass) over 3500kg and up to 7500kg (7.5 tonnes).

Trailer Training UK are highly recommended by the South East Coast Ambulance Service, London Ambulance Service and South Western Ambulance, as well as private ambulance services.

Course Aim

The aim is to provide the theoretical and practical knowledge to safely drive a vehicle that weighs up to 7.5T, and to qualify candidates for the LGV C1 ambulance licence.

Elements Covered

  • Safety Checks and Compliance
  • Loading of the Vehicle
  • Reversing and Manoeuvring Techniques
  • Driving in Varying Road Conditions and Traffic
  • Driving on Motorways

Upon Completion

Once you’ve passed your driving test, the DVSA will send you an updated driver’s licence with the C1 entitlement. Before starting work as a professional driver for hire or reward, you’re also required to undertake a Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) course, which is also available at Trailer Training UK centres.
